The Ganghofermuseum in Leutasch - Kirchplatzl documents the life and work of the folk writer Ludwig Ganghofer , the Leutasch village history and the hunting life there.

Ludwig Ganghofer spent almost twenty years in his “Hubertus” hunting lodge in the Gaistal in Leutasch, where he wrote a large part of his works, including his best-known, the novel Das Schweigen im Walde . Ganghofer's hunting lodge was a popular meeting place for Munich celebrities around 1900: Ernst von Wolhaben , Hugo von Hofmannsthal , Richard Strauss , the conductor Bruno Walter , the singer Leo Slezak , the painters Franz von Stuck , Friedrich August von Kaulbach , Franz Defregger , Mathias Schmid , Hugo Engl and Hermann Ebers were guests here alongside many other famous personalities.

In 1999 the Ganghofer and Local History Museum was opened in the town's former elementary school .
