Hugo Engl
Hugo Engl (born November 17, 1852 in Lienz , Austrian Empire ; † November 24, 1926 in Silz , Tyrol ) was an Austrian landscape and genre painter and illustrator .
Hugo Engl was originally a hunter and forester. He studied painting from 1869, first in the preparatory class at the School of Applied Arts and from 1870 at the Munich Royal Academy of Fine Arts under Wilhelm von Diez and Franz Defregger .
Engl was mainly concerned with landscape, hunting and genre painting, but also worked as an illustrator.
Engl was the first teacher of Albin Egger-Lienz , who later painted at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Karl Raupp , Gabriel von Hackl and Wilhelm von Lindenschmit the Elder. J. studied.
