history
The company was founded in 1990 as a subsidiary of Istanbul- based Türkiye Garanti Bankası A.Ş. founded, business operations began in spring 1991 . In addition to the headquarters in Amsterdam , it has branches in Germany , Romania , Switzerland and Turkey .
General Electric Consumer Finance has held a 25.5% stake in the parent company, Türkiye Garanti Bankası A.Ş., since December 2005 .
In July 2007, Deutsche Bank bought the Turkish parent company's securities custody and settlement business for € 85 million.

The first branch in Germany was founded in 1999 under the name United Garanti Bank International NV , or UGBI-Bank for short, in Munich . On January 1, 2001, the company's headquarters and operational headquarters were relocated to Düsseldorf and at the same time the company name changed to GarantiBank International NV . After she was located there at Schadowplatz 14 in the historic building of the Niederrheinische Bank , she is now staying at Tersteegenstrasse 28 in Düsseldorf-Golzheim.
The bank is subject to the control of the Dutch supervisory authority De Nederlandsche Bank and is part of the deposit protection fund of the Dutch banks. In Germany, it is a member of the Association of German Banks. V.
