The garden school is one of ten primary schools in the city of Villingen-Schwenningen . It is an all-day school . It is named after Gartenstrasse in Schwenningen city center, where its main building is located. In addition, there is the Rinelenschule as a branch, whose catchment area is limited to the residential areas of Rinelen and Deutenberg . Islamic religious instruction has been given since 2006 . The Alevi faith is taught. As a school with special educational and social tasks, the garden school offers a whole range of projects: violence prevention programs, programs to promote reading, programs to help parents and much more

history

"By decree of the Royal Superior Office in School Matters of July 5, 1903, the bourgeois colleges were instructed to make a decision on the establishment of a new school building in the community of Schwenningen and to submit this decision within 3 weeks." The school was inaugurated in 1909. It was initially a primary school for Protestant boys. From 1914 the building was used as a hospital . From 1933 to 1945 it had to use the name "German School". For a time, some elementary school classes were relocated to rooms in the building of the grammar school on Deutenberg, which was built in 1965 . Since 1974 the garden school has been a primary school only. The secondary classes of the previous elementary school were integrated into the newly built secondary school on Deutenberg . In 1978, the garden school in Baden-Württemberg carried out a model test for cooperation between kindergartens and primary schools. In 1996 the garden school was one of the largest primary schools in the country with more than 600 students.
