Ross Priory
The Buchanan clan had ruled the lands since the 14th century . In 1695 he built one of his family mansions on the site of today's Ross Priory manor . This comes from a design by the architect James Gillespie Graham and was built between 1810 and 1816. In 1817 the writer Walter Scott spent some time in the mansion, where he also wrote most of his novel Rob Roy . The building has belonged to the University of Strathclyde since 1971 .
