Life

Gary Sherman began his career in 1966 producing short films, commercials, and documentaries while still a student at the Illinois Institute of Technology . After graduating there, Sherman moved to London .

The director gained fame in 1972 with his first feature film Tunnel of the Living Corpses , which won a Saturn Award for best horror film and was named best directorial debut of the year by the British Film Institute . Another film of the horror genre followed in 1981 with Tot & Buried . In 1986 Sherman was the director and screenwriter of the action film Wanted - Dead or Alive with Rutger Hauer in the lead role. Another horror film followed in 1988 with Poltergeist III - The Dark Side of Evil and the third part of Tobe Hooper's Poltergeist , published in 1982 , which, however, had numerous production problems (including special effects and, above all, the death of the lead actress Heather O'Rourke ) and failed critics. After 1990 Gary Sherman worked mainly for television productions. In 1997 he worked for 20 episodes of the television series Poltergeist - Die eheimliche Macht and in 2002 as a screenwriter and producer of the television thriller The Glow - Appearances are deceiving .

Since 2007 Sherman Klassen has been teaching budding directors and screenwriters at the private Columbia College Chicago, and he continues to appear sporadically as a director, screenwriter and producer.
