history

On October 14, 1785, Joseph II ordered a court settlement. The previous seat of the court at the official seat of the elected bailiff was to be replaced and a separate court house was also to be created in the Hofrieden court. Landamann Wilhelm Rhomberg and the twelve jury members from the courts of Hohenweiler , Hörbranz , Lochau , Möggers (with Eichenberg ), Rieden (with Kennelbach ), Fluh and Langen agreed to build the court house in the middle of the Hofrieden court, in the village of Lochau. In 1788 the building site was negotiated and the house was built in 1789/1790.

Due to the Peace of Pressburg , Vorarlberg and Tyrol and other areas of Austria had to be ceded to Bavaria. The court Hofrieden was repealed with the repeal of the state constitution in 1806, like 21 other regional courts and three city courts in Vorarlberg, and seven regional court districts were formed (then district courts).

Johannes Reichart was already managing the courthouse in 1801, and after several transfers of ownership, it was bought in 1860 by the brewer Johann Reiner, including the brewery next to it. His previous brewery in Schloss Hofen was relocated here and in 1901 his own brewery building was built. Since then, the building has been owned by the Reiner family. In 1888 his widow and eldest son Carl took over the property. In 1900 the brewery was expanded. In 1958 the brewery was handed over to Fritz and Rudolf Reiner and the inn to Maria Reiner. In 1978 the brewery was closed.

Since 1982 the house was leased to Josef and Rosa Grote. 1984 to 1986 the building of the inn was completely renovated. In 2004 Wolfram Reiner and his son Jürgen took over the property. After renewed renovations from 2004 to 2007, the restaurant was leased to Philipp Rainer from Bregenz.

building

The building is about 19 meters long, 15 meters wide and 14 meters high. The building is a free-standing two-storey, light gray plastered object with a medium gray painted basement plinth and a high hipped mansard roof . The dark gray roof surfaces with beavertail -Eindeckung be two rows of differently designed dormers divided. The windows are divided into five or six axes, with corner pilasters on the building edges and on the main entrance door. The style of the building corresponds to the relatively sober appearance of an official building from that time.

Inside there are baroque wrought iron brackets and stucco ceilings from the time it was built.
