history

In 1839 a restaurant building was built. From 1840 onwards, a Munich landlord called "Zum Hasenstall" looked after the workers at the nearby ironworks in Hirschau, which Joseph Anton von Maffei acquired in 1837 . A short time later, the restaurant developed into an excursion restaurant.

In 1874 the inn was increased to three floors by a master builder Josef Wolf. Since then it has had a roof in the shape of a cubic tent roof and a simple, classicist facade. The property is under monument protection. In 1894, the city's magistrate approved an application for approval of the construction of two bowling alleys; henceforth the restaurant operated as the “Hirschau pub and beer establishment along with bowling alleys and garden operation”. In 1902 another ground-level extension was built.

In the summer of 2001, the building complex was completely renovated for around 2 million euros. The Oktoberfest host Peter Schottenhamel ran the restaurant until 2005 . In 2006 Thomas Böhm (owner of the “Grasbrunner Hof”) and Christian Hoyer (owner of the “Kloster Bräustüberl” in the Franciscan convent Reutberg ) became the tenants there. Another Wiesn host, Ludwig Hagn, took over the Hirschau at the beginning of 2013 . He acquired the property from Sedlmayr Grund und Immobilien KGaA .
