The Gauliga Niederrhein 1940/41 was the eighth soccer season of the Gauliga Niederrhein . The championship was held again this season in a round-robin tournament with ten teams. TuS Helene Altenessen secured the Gaume Championship for the first time with one point ahead of Rot-Weiss Essen . Thus Altenessen qualified for the German soccer championship 1940/41 , in which the team finished third in a group with VfL Cologne 1899 , Kickers Offenbach and FC Mülhausen 93 , which was not enough to advance. The relegation ranks were occupied by Westende Hamborn and VfR Ohligs . SSV 04 Wuppertal and VfL Benrath rose from the district leagues .
