Gay Krant is a Dutch magazine and has been published since 1980.

The Gay Krant is a magazine for LGBT people and was founded in December 1979. The editor-in-chief of Gay Krant was the journalist and politician Henk Krol until 2013, who gave up this function for the 50PLUS party after entering the Second Chamber of the States General . Gay Krant was initially created as a magazine for the gay bar Du Masher in Eindhoven and over the decades has developed into the most important LGBT magazine in the Netherlands. The circulation is around 30,000 issues and has been published in A4 format since 2000.

Alongside Henk Krol, the journalist Arjan Broekhuizen reported as an editor for the magazine between 1980 and 1989 . Between 1990 and 2005 this task was the responsibility of the journalist Hans van Velde . Adri van Esch has been taking on this role since 2005 . Other well-known columnists for Gay Krant include Marjan Berk , Boris Dittrich , Cees van der Pluijm and university professor Rob Tielman from Utrecht .

Gay Krant Prize

From 1992 to 2006, the magazine awarded the Gay Krant Prize for emancipation activities for LGBT rights. The prize was initially awarded every four years. Since 2008 the prize has been given up in favor of the newly awarded prize in memory of Jos Brink . The Gay Krant Prize was awarded to:
