Gaylussacia bigeloviana ( English bog huckleberry , German  swamp huckleberry ), is a species of the heather family. It is native to the coastal plains of eastern Canada and the eastern United States and is found from Newfoundland in the north south to South Carolina .

Gaylussacia bigeloviana is a shrub up to one meter in height that occasionally forms small stands. It has thick, leathery leaves that are shiny on the top and pale green on the underside. The flowers are in groups of 3… 7 and are white, purple or red. The fruits are black, juicy, but tasteless. The species grows in swamps and bogs, also in acid raised bogs in the company of peat mosses ( Sphagnum ).
