Gebhard Spahr
Gebhard Spahr OSB (born November 15, 1913 in Konstanz , † December 19, 1986 in Weingarten ) was a German historian , art historian and religious priest of the Benedictines .
Life
Spahr joined the Weingarten Benedictine Abbey in 1934 . This was followed by studies in Konstanz, Bregenz- Mehrerau , Maria Laach , Beuron and Freiburg im Üechtland with a doctorate in philosophy and theology. The title of his dissertation was Die Reform im Kloster St. Gallen 1417–1442.
He has published articles in a number of magazines and publishers. His five-volume book on Oberschwäbische Barockstraße is an international standard work on ecclesiastical and secular baroque buildings in Oberschwaben .
