Geckenau is a village in Besengau and a district of Bastheim in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld .

Geckenau is located in the Bastheim district in the Els valley at the mouth of the Braidbach . The Franconian Marienweg leads through Geckenau .

history

The village was depopulated in 1285.

Culture

The renovated Dickasmühle from 1716 with an impressive half-timbered structure and old mill wheel as well as the vaulted bridge over the Elsbach (around 1797/98) are well worth seeing . In addition, a Real - shrine of 1617 important.

The only local association is the volunteer fire brigade .
