Prisoner of the universe is a B-movie from 1983 . The British production was filmed in South Africa and tells the story of a group of Americans who find themselves in a primitive world in an alternate universe. The film was released in German cinemas on October 26, 1984.

action

Three Americans are transported one after the other to an alternate world called Vonya through the invention of a “crazy professor”; since the time is different there, they arrive at long intervals. The professor who arrived first has meanwhile entered the service of the local despot Kleel, whose claims to power he supports with explosives. When he sees Carrie from Earth, he claims the young woman for himself. Erdmann Dan, who is conveniently a martial arts freak, then has to grapple with windy allies and monstrous residents to free Carrie.

criticism

Despite its two relatively well-known stars - Richard Hatch was known from the original sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica - the film received practically poor reviews and was dragged through the cocoa on the show This Movie Sucks . Some even claim the film was responsible for Hatch's career turnaround. The lexicon of international films saw an "amateurishly staged adventure film that combines almost all the clichés of contemporary spectacle cinema, is bursting with strength and martial, but is just ridiculous."
