Geissorhiza roseoalba is a plant from the family of the Iridaceae (Iridaceae).

description

They are 15 to 20 centimeters high, perennial, herbaceous plants . The dark brown, woody tuber is round, flattened on one side, has a diameter of 8 to 10 millimeters and is completely concentric in several layers, it breaks up into irregular segments.

The lower leaf is membranous and pale, often missing. The three to five upright to sickle-shaped, sword-shaped to linear leaves are 3 to millimeters wide and extend to the base of the ear . The lowest two to three leaves are down to earth, the upper ones are smaller and attach to the stem, the uppermost occasionally resemble bracts .

The stem is erect, simple or branched once, in the latter case from an upper node of the stem. The inflorescence is a one- to three-flowered spike, the bracts are 14 to 18 (rarely up to 25) millimeters long (the inner ones are the same length or slightly shorter than the outer ones), herbaceous, but membranous above and often reddish on the upper part. The six-fold flowers are zygomorphic , bent down, white on the inside with red markings at the base of the bracts and reddish on the back.

The flower tube is 8 to 10 millimeters long and cylindrical, the bracts are 22 to 32 millimeters long, 10 to 15 millimeters wide and elongated-round to inversely ovoid. The stamens are of the same shape, drooping, 12 to 20 millimeters long, the anthers 6 to 8 millimeters, the pollen yellow. The ovary is approximately 4 millimeters long, the stylus is divided at the level of the top of the dust bag, the individual branches are 3 to 4 millimeters long and bent back.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 26. Flowering time is August to September.
