Corina-Isabela Peptan (born March 17, 1978 in Bumbeşti-Jiu , Gorj County ) is a Romanian chess player .

Life

Corina-Isabela Peptan studied sports with a specialization in chess in Timișoara and graduated in 2002. Since 2003 she has been a category III chess trainer.

Single successes

In 1988 she won the U10 Girls' World Cup in Timișoara , in 1989 she was third at the U12 Girls' World Cup in Aguadilla , and in 1990 she won the U12 Girls' World Cup in Fond du Lac . In 1991 she won the U14 Junior World Championship in Warsaw , and in 1992 she was second at the U14 World Junior Championship in Duisburg . In 1995 she won the U18 World Junior Championship in Guarapuava, Brazil, and took third place at the U20 Junior World Championship in Halle (Saale) . She finished second at the 1996 Junior World Cup in Medellín and third at the U18 World Cup in Cala Galdana that same year . In 1999 she won the Zone Tournament of Ostrava . She won the Romanian women's individual championship twelve times: 1994, 1995, 1997, 2000, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2019.

The sports student has the titles of women's grand master (WGM, since 1995) and international master (IM). In February 2015 it leads to the Romanian ranking of women, with their highest ever Elo rating of 2485 she was in July 2003, the eighth of the Women's World Ranking.

National team

She took part in ten chess Olympiads with the Romanian women's national team: 1992 , 1994 , 1996 , 1998 , 2002 , 2004 , 2006 , 2008 , 2014 and 2016 with a total score of 63.5 points from 103 games (+47 = 33 −23). In 1994 she received an individual silver medal for her result of 9.5 out of 12 on the third board, and in 2004 an individual silver medal for her result of 9 out of 12 on the second board. In 2000 she had canceled due to exhaustion. She also took part in the European Women's Team Championships in 1992, 1997, 1999, 2005, 2007 and 2009 with an individual overall result of +14, = 16 and −6. In 1997 the Romanian national team took second place with her on the first board, in 1999 third place with Peptan again on the top board.

Club chess

Peptan began playing chess at Metalurgistul Bumbeşti-Jiu , where she was trained by Cornel Paşcalău. A year after her first world championship title, she moved to Timișoara in 1989. She played club chess there for many years for the women's team from Electromotor Timișoara and later for those from AEM Luxten Timișoara , with whom she took part in the women's European Club Cup four times and won the title in Wuppertal in 1998 . In 2001, the team took second place, with Peptan receiving an individual gold medal for their result of 6.5 out of 7 on the second board ( Elo performance 2710). In 2008 she played in Romania at CS Cotnari-Politehnica Iași , and in 2011 at CS Municipal Bucharest . At the European Women's Club Cups 2004, 2005 and 2006 she played for the Montenegrin club Internet CG Podgorica , in 2008 and 2009 for CS Cotnari-Politehnica Iași . Corina-Isabela Peptan achieved the best individual result on the third board at the 2009 Women's European Club Cup.

On January 23, 1996 Corina-Isabela Peptan was made an honorary citizen of Timișoara . She is also an honorary citizen of Târgu Jiu and Bumbeşti-Jiu.
