List of honorary citizens of the city of Timisoara
The title of Honorary Citizen of the City of Timișoara is the highest honor given by the Timisoara City Council .
This title was given to local and national personalities as well as to European and international persons. Exceptional diplomats , prominent politicians , outstanding scientists , personalities from the army and sports , doctors and artists were awarded this title. Over the years, three US presidents have been awarded the title for their service to the city. But also collectively (the fallen heroes of the revolution of December 1989) the title of honorary citizen of the city of Timișoara was awarded. Some personalities were only awarded the title after their death ( post mortem ).
