Helmut Schneider (born June 3, 1931 in Timișoara , Kingdom of Romania ) is a Romanian-German association official, honorary citizen of the city of Timișoara and holder of the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany .

education and profession

Helmut Schneider was born in Timișoara in 1931. He studied mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic University of Timisoara and brought three during his working life in Timişoara patents in crane out. In Germany he worked at MAN in Nuremberg .

Hobby photographer

Helmut Schneider also worked as a photographer in his spare time . He was an exhibition photographer in the 1970s and gained worldwide attention with portraits and milieu shots, but also with humorous pictures. Social activity

In 1985 he founded the aid organization of the Banat Swabians , which he headed until 2003. From 1985 to 1992, thousands of food parcels were sent to the Banat through the aid organization . After the revolution in December 1989 , he concentrated on creating a home for the elderly who remained in the Banat .
  • Adam – Müller – Guttenbrunn – Foundation
With the help of the Federal Ministry of the Interior , Helmut Schneider was able to create a model project in 1994 with the Adam Müller Guttenbrunn House in Timișoara. The Adam Müller Guttenbrunn Foundation in Timișoara to support the German minority in the Banat comprises a social and a cultural area . Between 1992 and 1994 the new building of the "Adam Müller Guttenbrunn Foundation Temeschburg" was built. The opening ceremony was held in 1994 in the presence of the then Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany, Klaus Kinkel . The AMG Foundation includes a. the old people's homes in Sântana with 40 and in Bacova with 20 places as well as the social stations in Biled and in Sânnicolau Mare . In the social stations, up to 300 warm meals are served daily to those in need.
  • Senior Center Josef Nischbach
After Helmut Schneider knew that the elderly in the Banat were being cared for, he began to look after the compatriots in Germany and in 1999 opened the Josef Nischbach Senior Center in Ingolstadt . The senior center was named after the priest of the Banat Swabians Josef Nischbach and offers assisted living , inpatient care for the elderly and outpatient care.

In 1982, Helmut Schneider founded the Schwabach regional association , which he was chairman until 1995. From 1980 to 1995 he was on the board of the Bavarian State Association , from 1986 to 1995 its deputy chairman.
