The yellow-throated ant hatchers ( Myrmotherula ambigua ) belong to the genus Myrmotherula within the ant bird family (Thamnophilidae) .
The species occurs in the northwestern Amazon basin , in Colombia and Brazil .
The distribution area includes tropical or subtropical moist lowland forest, "white sand forest" (white-sand forest) up to 200 or 500, occasionally up to 1100 m altitude.
The Latin additional species comes from the Latin ambiguus 'ambiguous, ambiguous, ambiguous' .
features
The bird is 8 to 9 cm tall and weighs between 7 and 8 g. The male has a black upper side, the back is broadly striped with white, a light yellow interscapular spot, two striking white wing bands, white edges of the tail feathers and narrow white tips. The cheeks are whitish with a wide black chin stripe. The yellow of the underside extends over the throat to the front. It differs from the very similar yellow-stripe ant panties ( Myrmotherula sclateri ) by its cap and white neck stripes and the gray body.
The female is distinguished by a paler feathered head and a yellowish-brown breast, the interscapular spot is only hinted at or is completely absent.
The species is monotypical .
voice
The song is described as a sequence of 10 to 15 clear, sharp whistling tones, similar to the yellow-stripe ant hatchers ( Myrmotherula sclateri ), but the sounds are significantly shorter.
Way of life
The food probably consists of small insects , arthropods and arachnids , which are often hunted in mixed hunting communities in or below the top of the tree.
Little is known about the breeding season and the type of nest.
Hazardous situation
The stock is not considered to be at risk ( least concern ).
