The Gelmerhütte is a refuge of the Brugg section of the Swiss Alpine Club in the Urner Alps .

The Gelmerhütte is a mountain hut . It is located at 2412 m above sea level. M. above the Gelmersee in the Grimsel area, which belongs to the Haslital in the Bernese Oberland .
history
In 1923, the Brugg Section decided to purchase space and build huts. The first work in 1924 was the leveling of the hut square and the waymarking. The inauguration of the Gelmerhütte took place on August 1, 1926, with 40 cm of fresh snow. At that time the hut had 30 beds (hay storage) and the construction costs were CHF 32,000.
In 1935 the hay store was replaced by a mattress store, before a small power station was connected in 1937. The Gelmerhütte was expanded and the infrastructure improved at various intervals. The gigantic renovation of 1987 achieved the current state. The hut has 55 beds, electrical energy for light, kitchen and hot water. The hut and hut trail are constantly being optimized.

- Access to the hut is not recommended in the winter months. In spring, depending on the conditions, the hut can be reached from the north with ski touring equipment. The shelter is open, the hut unattended.
