Gemelli DiVersi is an Italian pop-rap group that was founded in 1998. Today it consists of the singer Francesco Strangers (Strano) and the rapper Emanuele Busnaghi (theme). The name means "different twins", whereby DiVersi can also be read as di versi , ie "of verse ".

Band history

The group was created as a merger of the two duos La Cricca (Thema and THG ) and Rima nel Cuore (Strano and Grido). The four of them started their careers in 1999 with the single Un attimo ancora (a cover of the Pooh song Dammi solo un minuto ) from the album Gemelli DiVersi . They quickly attracted attention and were nominated as Newcomer of the Year at the Premio Italiano della Musica . This was followed by the singles Ciò che poteva essere and Sarà il cemento from the same album. Together with Articolo 31 (whose member J-Ax is the brother of Grido) they went on their first tour.

In 2000 Gemelli DiVersi appeared in a Coca-Cola commercial and in the summer launched their single Musica , which announced the second album 4 × 4 . The album also included the song Stella gemella in collaboration with the performer of the original, Eros Ramazzotti . With E mo 'lo sai , a book was also published by with photos and comments from the band members. In 2001, after the tour, the live album Come piace a me was submitted together with Ramazzotti .

The third album Fuego made the group very popular in 2002. Tu no and Mary appeared as singles . At the MTV Europe Music Awards 2003 they were named Best Italian Act . In 2004 they were able to build on their success with Reality Show . In 2005 they performed at the Live 8 concert in Rome. After briefly appearing as presenters of the MTV show Pimp My Wheels and being named best band at the Italian Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards , the album Boom! . Without much success they took part in the Sanremo Festival 2009 with Vivi per miracolo , after which they published the Best of Senza fine 98-09 .

The sixth studio album Tutto da capo earned the Gemelli DiVersi their first number one placement in 2012 . In 2014, both Grido and THG left the group, after which Thema and Strano continued as a duo. The new album Uppercut was released in 2016.
