Gender Dentistry International

Gender Dentistry International e. V. , GDI for short, is a German scientific society with an international focus. Its seat is in Berlin. It was founded in 2011 under the name Society for Gender-Specific Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine, DGGZ for short. The goal of the GDI is to promote science in the field of gender-specific aspects in dentistry, oral and maxillofacial medicine .

The professional association coordinates the development of gender-specific guidelines for dental therapies . Aspects such as the limited consideration of gender in the current state of research justify the commitment to the scientific review of the treatment concept.

GDI science prizes on gender-specific aspects

With the announcement of two science prizes, Gender Dentistry International e. V. specifically the further development of gender-specific studies in dentistry, oral medicine and maxillofacial medicine. On the one hand, the endowed “Nolting Award for Studies in Gender Dentistry” is awarded to publications based on new knowledge about gender-specific treatments. The award is named after its founder Dr. med. Tim Nolting MSc. On the other hand, the “GDI Award for Excellence in Gender Dentistry” honors university lecturers for their commitment to research and teaching.
