Generation Kill is an American miniseries produced by HBO . It is based on the book Generation Kill of the same name . It first aired in the United States in July 2008. The miniseries follows the plot of the novel relatively closely, one of the most striking differences is probably the modified end scene.
production
Both David Simon and Ed Burns, who previously collaborated on The Wire , were executive producers for Generation Kill and also writers with Evan Wright. Directed by Susanna White (episodes 1-3 and 7) and Simon Cellan Jones (episodes 4, 5 and 6).
The series was filmed in Mozambique , Namibia and South Africa because of the Iraq-like topography . For example, the arrival in Baghdad in the final episode was filmed in Maputo , the capital of Mozambique.
occupation
Alexander Skarsgård plays the role of Sergeant Brad Colbert, the team leader of the lead vehicle, who was assigned to Evan Wright, played by Lee Tergesen in the series. Team Corporal Josh Ray Person driver is portrayed by James Ransone . In addition to numerous other actors, two former soldiers who were serving in the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion at the time of the invasion play a role in the series. Sergeant Rudolfo Reyes plays himself and Sergeant Eric Kocher plays Gunnery Sergeant Rich Barrott. The two were also responsible for training the other actors on set.
music
One of the specifications that David Simon made for the two directors was not to use a soundtrack in the traditional sense. The use of music is therefore limited to a cappella versions of popular songs that are sung by the performers. The only exception is the song The Man Comes Around by Johnny Cash , which accompanies the last scene of the miniseries. All music in Generation Kill can be assigned to the diegetic level.
