Gennadi Alexejewitsch Romanenko ( Russian Геннадий Алексеевич Романенко ; born January 12, 1937 in Timashevsk ) is a Russian economist , agronomist and university professor .

Life

Romanenko studied at the Kuban State Institute of Agriculture in Krasnodar . In 1959 he graduated with honors. Then he was an agronomist of the agricultural administration of Krasnodar region and main agronomist of the collective farm Rossiya of Krasnodar region. In 1962 he became president of the Iskra kolkhoz of the Krasnodar region. In 1967 he became the deputy chief of the agricultural administration of the Krasnodar Executive Committee.

In 1969, Romanenko became director of the All Union Research Institute on Rice . In 1977 he received his doctorate in economics . In 1978 he became head of department and scientific deputy director of the Krasnodar Agricultural Research Institute. In 1984 he received the title of professor .

In 1986, Romanenko became a professor of the Chair of Economics and Agricultural Organization of the Kuban Institute of Agriculture, as well as the vice-chairman and department head for the production and processing of agricultural products of the State Committee on Agricultural Problems of the USSR . In 1989 he became the chairman of the Presidium of the All-Russian Department of the All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences and vice-chairman of the State Committee on Agricultural Problems of the RSFSR . In 1990 he became a real member of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, which merged in 1992 with the previous All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences to form the new Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences and of which he was President until 2013.

Since 1990 Romanenko has been a member of the College of the Ministry of Agriculture of the RSFSR (since 1992 Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation ). 1995–1997 he was a member of the Council for Science and Technology Policy of the President of the Russian Federation. 1996–1998 he was First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. Since 2002 he has been Vice President and then President of the Union of European Academies for Sciences applied to Agriculture, Food and Nature (UEAA) . He has been a Real Member since 2013 and Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 2014 . In 2017 he was one of the winners of the Demidow Prize .
