Gennadi Leonidovich Vasiliev ( Russian Геннадий Леонидович Васильев * 31 August 1940 in Mikhailovka , Soviet Union ; † 21st October 1999 in Moscow ) was a Soviet and Russian film - director and screenwriter .

Life and accomplishments

Vasilyev joined in 1960 as a co-author of the screenplay to Пиковая дама ( Pikowaja at that ) to Pushkin's The Queen of Spades first appearance. In 1968 he completed his training at the State Institute for the Performing Arts and attended further courses for directors and screenwriters until 1973. At the same time, Vasilyev was the director of the Komsomol Theater in Rostov-on-Don .
