Georg Albrecht (historian)
Georg Albrecht (born August 28, 1881 in Künzelsau ; † September 21, 1964 in Alpirsbach ) was a teacher and from 1929 to 1934 head of the Heilbronn City Archives . He did a great job researching the names of corridors and streets in Heilbronn . After the Second World War he moved to Alpirsbach, where he did research on the history of the Alpirsbach Monastery .
Life
Albrecht was born as the son of a pastor in Künzelsau and studied German and history at the University of Tübingen . He then went to Paris and London to study foreign languages. In 1905 he entered the school service and in 1908 came to the secondary school in Alpirsbach . In 1913 he switched to the secondary school in Heilbronn . In the school service he rose to the senior teacher . In Heilbronn he began extensive research into the history of the local area, with a particular focus on the history of field and street names as well as the Heilbronn vineyard class. After Moriz von Rauch's death , the Heilbronn municipal council elected him in 1929 as his successor as archivist in the Heilbronn city archive , where he remained active until 1934. From 1936 to 1945 he was the first director of the Heilbronn Historical Society . During the air raid on Heilbronn on December 4, 1944, all of Albrecht's documents were destroyed. After the Second World War he returned to Alpirsbach, where he did research on the history of the Alpirsbach monastery . He has written numerous writings on historical subjects.
