Georg Alt

Georg Alt (* around 1450 probably in Augsburg ; † July 28, 1510 ) was a translator and historiographer .

Alt studied at the University of Erfurt in 1466 and settled in Nuremberg as a clerk in 1473 . In 1485 he was appointed password writer. His Descriptio Nuremberge and his German-language description of the city have only survived in handwriting. Alt was best known as a translator of Schedel's printed world chronicle and the Norimberga by Conrad Celtis .

His wife Christina died on September 14, 1506.
