Georg Andreas Fabricius (born May 28, 1589 in Herzberg , † May 30, 1645 in Göttingen ) was a German educator and polyhistor .

Life

Born as the son of superintendent Theodosius Fabricius , he attended the pedagogy in Göttingen and studied at the University of Jena and the University of Wittenberg . After he had acquired the academic degree of a master’s degree in Wittenberg , he became rector of a school in Oldenburg . In 1626 he took over a rectorate in Mühlhausen and from 1633 worked at the grammar school in Göttingen.

Fabricius published works in the fields of theology, physics and astronomy. He particularly distinguished himself as a polyhistor, whereby from today's point of view his most important work is the Thesaurus philosophicus sive Tabulae totius philosophiae systema , published in Braunschweig in 1624 . In it he deals with 376 tables for teaching use under the mnemonic aspect. He thus offered the scholars of his time a work that dealt with such disciplines as grammar, rhetoric, poetics, mathematics and philosophy, in the sense of Ramism .

His son was Henning Gottfried Fabricius (June 29, 1616 - November 12, 1675)
