Georg Dasen

Georg Dasen , also Georg Dasenius or Georg Dase (* 1568 in Sternberg ; † April 27, 1643 in Rostock ) was a German mathematician, university professor and rector.

Life

Georg Dasen was a son of the Evangelical Lutheran theologian Joachim Dasenius († 1611) and his wife Hermingard, nee. Leetzke. In the year he was born, his father took over the Prestin parish as pastor . From 1586 Dasen studied at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Rostock . On April 24, 1595 he was awarded a bachelor's degree and master's degree under Dean Erasmus Stockmann . PhD. In 1596 he was reciprocated to the Phil. Faculty by Nikolaus Willebrand . After he worked as a private lecturer until 1604, he was appointed councilor public professor of lower mathematics in 1605. In 1624 he received the rätl. full professorship of morality and was again from 1632 to 1643 as a councilor. Professor of Mathematics. During these years he was dean of the Philosophical Faculty eleven times and was rector of the university in 1611/12 and 1635/36 .

Georg Dasen was married to Elisabeth Holstein (1573–1632) from around 1602 and in second marriage from 1633 to Anna Dörcks, related. Wagner. The first marriage came from the sons Joachim (1602–1646), who became secretary of the University of Rostock, and Johann (1605–1628).
