Nikolaus Willebrand

Nikolaus Willebrand , also Willebrandt (born July 29, 1566 in Gorlosen ; † July 30, 1613 in Rostock ) was a German legal scholar and university professor, rector of the University of Rostock .

Life

Nikolaus Willebrand was born in Gorlosen near Grabow (Elde) as the son of the Evangelical Lutheran theologian Peter Willebrand and his wife Sophie Schultze. From 1586 he completed a law degree at the University of Rostock. In 1590 he moved to Frankfurt (Oder), where he received his master's degree in 1593. In the same year he became a lecturer at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Rostock. In 1594 he was appointed full council professor of morality. 1596 followed at the Law School's graduation to the Dr. iur. utr. Willebrand was dean of the Faculty of Philosophy several times between 1597 and 1612. In 1605 and 1606 he was rector of the university.

Nikolaus Willebrand family was married to Catharina Hein (1576–1662), the daughter of Rostock professor and mayor Friedrich Hein , from September 22, 1596 . The children came from marriage:

  • Peter (1597–1638) - preacher at the parish church in Güstrow
  • Anna (1599–1665) - ⚭ 1621 with Theodor von Oeseder, Fürstl. meckl. Advice and fiscal on meckl. Court and regional court in Sternberg
  • Friedrich - Dr. iur utr., Fürstl. meckl. Council and Fiscal
  • Sophia - died at a young age
  • Nicolaus - Merchant of Reval
  • Albert (1608–1681) - Dr. iur utr., professor and assessor of the Princely Consistory

After Willebrand's death, the widow Catharina married the Wismar syndic and mayor Arnold Bötticher (also Botcher , † 1654) on August 4, 1617 , after whose death she returned to Rostock.
