Georg Edlinger

Georg Edlinger (born June 5, 1967 in Amstetten ) is an Austrian percussionist , drummer and composer .

Life

Georg Edlinger first studied jazz drums and graduated in 1992 from the Franz Schubert Conservatory in Vienna . He continued his studies from 1993 to 1996 at the Timeline International Music School in the field of percussion, where he dealt with African and Afro-Caribbean music.

This was followed by study trips to Havana , Cuba, among others, and studies in IGP drums and percussion at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz and at the Vienna Conservatory in Vienna. In 1999 he played concert tours all over Europe with the group Tanga . In 2002 he published percussion textbooks for djembé , congas , bongos , drums , darabuka and for rhythmic training.

In 2003 he founded his own CD label with the name cwm-music and published CDs with his formation shineform with Volker Kagerer and Mario Rechtern . From 2005 to 2010 the Extraplatte label released the CDs shineform Waterpercussion , followed by his solo debut Percussion Beyond The Timelines and a DVD entitled shineform The Making of Kling Klong .

In 2006 he received a professorship for jazz drums and percussion at the Franz Schubert Conservatory in Vienna, where he founded the Academy for Ethno-Percussion at Neuwaldegg Castle in 2010 and, together with Herwig Stieger and Stefan Maass, wrote the first curriculum for Ethno-Percussion in Austria and South Tyrol .

Since 2006 he has been a freelance workshop lecturer and in music projects with African Club 3 as well as Drumball Connection , Universal Rhythm Blasters at Work and since 2012 as a lecturer at the Gustav Mahler Conservatory in Vienna.

He also worked in the field of film and theater music such as the projects Missing links , Engerling , Nosferatu and the kung fu show Shaolin & Wudang as well as other performances with his own designed metal percussion instruments made of scrap at Linz 09 and at Ars Electronica 2013.
