Georg Emil von Majer

Georg Emil Majer, from 1851 by Majer , (born June 19, 1810 in Neipperg , † June 2, 1884 in Stuttgart ) was a Württemberg city director and district president.

Life and work

Georg Emil Majer was the son of a pastor. He attended high school in Stuttgart, after which he studied from 1830 to 1834 in Tübingen . During his studies in 1830 he became a member of the Feuerreiter Tübingen fraternity . In 1832 he took part in the Hambach Festival . From 1834 he was an assistant at the Ludwigsburg Oberamt , in 1838 he passed the first and in 1839 the second higher service examination. Majer began his professional career from 1838 to 1839 as a trainee lawyer with the government of the Neckar District in Ludwigsburg, from 1839 to 1843 as senior actuary at the Oberamt Besigheim and from 1843 to 1845 as an assistant to the Protestant consistory. From 1845 to 1848 he worked as city director's secretary at the Stuttgart city directorate and in 1849 as senior administrator at the Münsingen district office . From 1849 to 1851 he was administrative administrator at the Stuttgart city administration and then director there until 1866, since 1855 with the title of government councilor and since 1858 with the title and rank of senior government councilor. In 1863 he received the title and rank of city director. In 1866 he became director and thus head of the government of the Danube District in Ulm, from 1880 with the title of district president. In 1883 he retired.
