Georg Fayer (* 1892 in Austria-Hungary ; † November 5, 1950 in Cannes ) was an Austrian photographer of Hungarian origin.

Life

The grandfather Georg Fayers was a friend and colleague of Louis Daguerre and opened the first photo studio on his advice and with his support. The Fayer photographic dynasty was first mentioned in a document before 1850 in Budapest , almost eleven years after Daguerre's announcement to the Académie française in Paris . In the 1920s, Georg Fayer came to Vienna via New York and London , where he met the former royal court photographer Carl Pietzner junior .

In 1935 Fayer opened a photo studio in London . He was quickly recognized in England as a society and artist photographer, worked for the royal family and also photographed stars of the stage and film. In 1937 Fayer returned to Vienna.

The artist-photographer Lillian Barylli-Fayer was his daughter.
