Georg Fischer (born May 24, 1888 in Eisenberg , † August 7, 1963 in Heidelberg ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Fischer completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith and then went on a hike . From 1909 he worked at Benz AG in Mannheim and from 1926 at Daimler-Benz AG , where he was also chairman of the workers' council. After the seizure of power by the National Socialists of the SPD man was fishing in "1933 protective custody taken" and was then three years of work, before 1936 when Brown, Boveri & Cie. was employed. In 1944 he was imprisoned in the Dachau concentration camp . After the Second World War , he worked for AOK Mannheim until his retirement in 1953 . Fischer was married and had two children.

Fischer became a member of the SPD in 1908 . From 1928 to 1933 he was a member of the Mannheim city ​​council and in 1933 he became a city councilor. In 1946 he was a member of the Constituent State Assembly of Württemberg-Baden and then a member of the first Landtag of Württemberg-Baden . In 1951 he was elected to the Mannheim City Council, of which he was a member until 1963. There he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in 1955/56.
