Weilburg Castle Church: Emblem

As a court painter in Weilburg, he made numerous oil paintings as well as wall and ceiling paintings in the castle from 1706 . Its most outstanding achievement is the 1,548 imitation Delft tiles. Each imitation has its own motif, Seekatz made over 2,000 designs. Numerous paintings by him are still in the castle. The painting on the biblical subject Resurrection of Seekatz comes from the five interchangeable pulpit pictures in the castle church , probably also the two unsigned pictures with the subjects of the Ascension of Christ and the pouring out of the Holy Spirit . The pulpit pictures are stored on rollers and can be raised and lowered by hand. From 1714 he began painting the Windhof , a pleasure palace near Weilburg. The work continued with interruptions until 1726. These paintings deal with themes from Greek mythology .

In addition to his work at Weilburg Castle, he also directed the painting work in the castle and Paulskirche in Kirchheimbolanden . This city belonged to the domain of the House of Nassau-Weilburg.
