Georg Friedrich Sigwart (born April 8, 1711 in Großbettlingen , † March 9, 1795 in Tübingen ) was a German anatomist and two-time rector of the University of Tübingen .

Sigwart initially studied philosophy and theology in Tübingen (Master's thesis in 1731 on "Theses miscellae methaphysicae") and worked as a teacher in Stuttgart . He later studied medicine at the Universities of Leipzig and Halle , where he received his doctorate in 1742. In 1752 he brought back valuable surgical instruments from a study trip to Paris. His work covers both surgical and ophthalmological as well as physiological and pathophysiological topics. Among other things, he was the personal physician of Duke Karl Eugen von Württemberg .
