Georg Heinrich Bümler
Georg Heinrich Bümler (born October 10, 1669 in Berneck , Upper Franconia , † August 26, 1745 in Ansbach ) was a German opera singer (Kontraalt) and conductor of the Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach .
Life
Bümler probably became a chamber discantist in the Brandenburg court orchestra in Bayreuth in 1683. There the conductor Ruggiero Fedeli taught him singing and piano. As a teenager he worked as a chamber musician in Wolfenbüttel. His professional path took him briefly to Hamburg, Berlin and then back to Bayreuth. Finally in 1698 he became contralto and chamber musician at the Brandenburg court in Ansbach and was appointed conductor there in 1717.
When Lorenz Christoph Mizler founded his Corresponding Society of Musical Sciences , he chose his old Ansbach companion Bümler as one of the three founding members alongside Giacomo de Lucchesini .
In 1723 Bümler met Sigmund Ferdinand Weißmüller in Ansbach . Both were very interested in Pythagorean questions. Immediately beforehand, Bümler had undertaken a nine-month study trip to Italy . Mizler reports that Bümler studied the "Welsche method", which presumably refers to the Welsche practice described in the Universal Lexicon , which is based on the theory of proportions and rations .
