Georg Kneer

Georg Kneer (* 1960 in Kirchhundem - Schwartmecke ) is a German sociologist and university professor .

Life

Georg Kneer studied sociology , political science and modern history at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster from 1981 to 1988 . He from 1992 to 1994 research assistant and in 1994 was the work rationalization, discipline and differentiation: on the relationship between social theory and time diagnosis of Jürgen Habermas, Michel Foucault and Niklas Luhmann to Dr. phil. PhD. From 1996 to 2001, Kneer was a research associate at the Leipzig-Halle Environmental Research Center . His habilitation took place in 2004.

Kneer followed in 2001 a call to the professor for the scientific basis of design at the College of Design Schwabisch Gmund . In 2010/11 he took over the deputy professorship for migration sociology at the University of Tübingen .

Research priorities

Kneer's focus areas include migration sociology , sociological theory , in particular social theory , communication and media theory . He also deals with science and technology research as well as cultural analysis.
