Georg Ledderhose (born December 15, 1855 in Bockenheim , † February 1, 1925 in Munich ) was a German surgeon .

Life

Ledderhose studied medicine at the Kaiser-Wilhelms-Universität Strasbourg , especially with Albert Lücke . In 1880 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD.

In 1891 he became an associate professor of surgery at the University of Strasbourg. From 1892 to 1899 he was director of the newly founded convalescent house for accident victims. He later worked in Munich, where he became an honorary professor.

During his time in Strasbourg he worked a. a. with the "Sanatorium and Nursing Home for Epileptic Children in Kork (Baden)" (today: Epilepsy Center Kork) together and published a. a. also for surgical epilepsy therapy. Ledderhose first described the syndrome later named after him in 1894, which is also known as Ledderhose's disease .
