Georg Luksch (born August 8, 1921 in Vienna ; † January 17, 1996 in Vienna) was an Austrian composer , conductor and arranger .

biography

Georg Luksch was the son of Aloisia Luksch and the tram driver Georg Luksch. He learned the guitar at the age of six , then the clarinet and saxophone . At the age of 14 he played E-flat clarinet in a brass band in Vienna- Döbling and already began to compose. He received private music lessons and studied oboe at the Conservatory . After the Second World War , he led the music band of the Vienna Transport Company and for 25 years the “Georg Luksch Dance Orchestra”. Since the 1960s he has been the musical director of the New Pratervarietés (formerly Varieté Leicht ). He composed hits for u. a. Peter Alexander , Wencke Myhre and Bobbejaan and worked with lyricists such as Hans Haller , Charles Berndt , Leo Parthé and Hugo Wiener . From his marriage to Anna Luksch in 1943 his son Rudi Luksch emerged, who later became known as the Wienerlied composer. After the divorce he married Hedwig Luksch for the second time, in 1966 his second son Georg O. Luksch was born.
