Leopold Parthé (born November 15, 1917 in Vienna ; † May 1, 2014 ibid) was an Austrian writer and songwriter , especially the Wienerlied .

Life

Leo Parthé writes prose, cabaret, lyrics and sometimes composes. He writes aphorisms, short stories and jokes for radio and television. Since 1955 he has been writing for the radio show Das Traummännlein sucht (The Dream Comes) and was involved in the production of the associated audio cassettes and books. He wrote the text and music for the opening credits and produced audio cassettes for the children's program Am dam des . Also watch out for the children's program ! Listen up! Helmi is here! was he involved.

His lyrics are sung by the Mayrhofner group , Horst Chmela and the Czapek duo , among others . In 1964 and 1965 he wrote articles for the bankruptcy Sopot Festival and also sat on the jury. His song " Austria ist nicht Australia ", which deals with the well-known problem of confusing the two countries (sometimes mail is sent incorrectly), was set to music by his friend Johann Mathis and interpreted by Kaiserwald-Echo at the end of 2006 to a hit in Australia and was by played on many radio stations and demanded in request concerts. It is almost unknown in Austria. The idea had come to him a few years earlier, but it took time to implement. He also wrote a series of seven songs about Josefine Mutzenbacher .

In 1989 Parthé published the collection The Most Beautiful and Famous Viennese Songs, which had appeared in six editions by 2006. The paperback contains around 100 lyrics and the notes from the first line of the chorus for each. It also contains a dictionary of Viennese High German and a “little chronicle of the Viennese song”. He also published two volumes of jokes and one volume of congratulations. In 1991, 1993, 1995 and 1998 he worked on the anthology "From the pen of ..." and in 2003 at the Frankfurt library . His contributions appeared in the Kronen Zeitung and throughout the week .

Leo Parthé was Vice President of the Association of Austrian Text Authors (VOET) from 1968 to 1999 and a board member of the Society of Authors, Composers and Music Publishers from 1980 to 1990 .

In 1960 he received the first prize in the European radio show Music knows no borders . He has received a medal of honor from the House of Humor and Satire in Gabrovo (Bulgaria).

Leo Parthé met Karel Gott before his career. He was looking for an interpreter for his songs and came across the Czech singing god. When Parthé heard God on records he was enthusiastic about him and took him to Vienna, where God lived with Parthé for a week. They went to various record companies, but they all turned them down. Then God went to Germany, where he immediately got a record deal. A song together never came off, but they kept in touch.

He lived in Vienna- Leopoldstadt .
