He was the librarian of the library of the Technical University of Braunschweig , the predecessor of today's University Library of Braunschweig .

Life

Querfurth studied mechanical engineering at the Brunswick Collegium Carolinum since 1856. He worked there as an assistant from 1862 before becoming a teacher of mechanical engineering in 1865 and a full professor in 1871. He read about machine elements and the calculation and construction of steam engines. Querfurth visited the World Exhibition in London in 1862 and made a study trip to England in 1888.

In 1870, after the death of Johann Heinrich Blasius, he was appointed librarian of the library of the Polytechnic School, until 1862 Collegium Carolinum. A catalog of the library appeared in print during his tenure. Querfurth became first librarian in 1872 and was dismissed from this service on October 1, 1880 at his own request. He continued to teach.

In 1888 he received the Knight's Cross First Class for the Order of Henry the Lion and in 1894 was appointed Privy Councilor.
