Georg Ried (moderator)

Georg "Schorsch" Leonhard Ried (* 1959 in Blonhofen ) is a Bavarian television and radio presenter, author, director, musician and conductor.

Life

After studying from 1979 to 1983 at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich , Ried worked as a radio presenter for private radio in the Ostallgäu . In 1989 he came to the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation and is now on BR Heimat on Sundays and public holidays and organizes the program “So nice sounds brass music”. On BR television he can be seen in the programs "Mit Blasmusik durch Bayern" and " Schwaben weissblau " and also works as a music editor for various programs.

Georg Ried moderates the stage performances of wind orchestras and performs as a lecturer with self-written texts. In addition to humorous works in Ostallgäu dialect, Ried wrote reference works, biographies, plays and scripts for film and television.

Georg Ried is also moderator and co-founder of the "Grand Prix of Brass Music" initiated in 2017.

As a conductor, Ried is the musical director of the Blechragu ensemble .

In 2011 Georg Ried was appointed "Cultural Ambassador for Brass Music in the Music Association of Upper and Lower Bavaria ". In 2018 he received the Medal of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his special services in the field of customs, culture and brass music .
