Georg Schwikart

Georg Schwikart (* 1964 in Düsseldorf ) is a German theologian , religious scholar and author.

Life

Schwikart studied comparative religious studies, theology and folklore in Neuburg an der Donau , Bonn and Tübingen and is Dr. phil. He lives in Sankt Augustin - Hangelar near Bonn.

For many years he has been writing stories, travel books, poetry and religious non-fiction books for adults, adolescents and children, as well as contributions to anthologies, newspapers, magazines and radio.

Schwikart was to be ordained a deacon in November 2010 ; Cardinal Joachim Meisner , however, suspended the consecration shortly before the consecration date. In spring 2011 Georg Schwikart left the Catholic Church and joined the Protestant Church. Since October 1, 2014 he has been working in the pastoral service of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland, since April 1, 2016 as pastor of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland in the Hardtberg parish in Bonn. Schwikart is a member of the Association of German Writers (VS Bonn). Many of his books have been translated into other languages.

Schwikart is married and has two children (* 1989 and * 1991).

For the radio station SWR2 , Schwikart contributed from 1998 to 2010 to the series “Five to Six”, which ran every day at the same time: from 5:55 am to the 6:00 am news.
