Georg Theodor Kloß

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Georg Theodor Kloß (also Kloße , etc., * around 1700 , † after 1760 ) was a German organ builder in Weißenfels .

Life

Kloß's father was a schoolmaster. On May 5, 1718, the organ builder named after the fire in the tower of the city church Weißenfels, when he suggested removing the wind chests of the organ, which led from the tower into the churches, so that the fire does not spread further. His first work as an organ builder is known from 1723. In 1734 he is mentioned in connection with the organ building in Obernessa as from Dehlitz . In 1727 and 1735 Kloß was referred to as the court organ builder in Weißenfels. The organs in Jüterbog (1727/28) and Beetzendorf (1738) had to be replaced by new ones soon after they were built, because their quality was too poor, but the brochures have both been preserved.

Georg Theodor Kloß was mentioned for the last time in 1760, coming from Döhling (probably Dehlitz is meant) at that time.

Works

Georg Theodor Kloß's works are mainly known in the then Duchy of Saxony-Weißenfels . Parts of the organ in Langenbogen and the brochures in Jüterbog, St. Nikolai and Beetzendorf have been preserved .
