Georg Theodor Valentiner

Georg Theodor Valentiner (born May 31, 1820 in Pronstorf ; † November 12, 1877 in Bad Pyrmont ) was a German spa doctor .

Life

Friedrich Peter Valentiner came from an old academic family in Schleswig-Holstein. He was a son of the pastor and consistorial councilor Valentin Adrian Valentiner (1758-1835) and his second wife Christine Sophie Bauert. The pastor Friedrich Peter Valentiner was his older brother; Friedrich Wilhelm Valentiner and Christian August Valentiner were his cousins , and the spa doctor Wilhelm Valentiner was his nephew.

He studied Medicine at the University of Kiel , was here in 1843 with a dissertation on typhoid to Dr. med. doctorate and habilitation in 1845. Until 1855 he taught physiology as a private lecturer .

In the course of the Schleswig-Holstein survey he served as senior physician in the Schleswig-Holstein Navy in 1849/50 .

Soon after the restoration of Danish rule in the duchies and the associated dismissal of his brother and his cousins, he too gave up his lectureship and went to Bad Pyrmont, where he worked very successfully as a spa doctor. Johann Heinrich Wichern was one of his patients .
