Georg Thieler

Georg Thieler (born December 31, 1854 in Osnabrück ; † February 10, 1945 in Bad Sooden ) was a lawyer and mayor of Jena (1885–1889).

Live and act

Georg Thieler was born the son of a building inspector and, after graduating from high school in Osnabrück, studied law at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . There he joined the Holzminda student union in 1874 . In the summer of 1878 he finished his studies with a doctorate .

In 1885 he succeeded Georg von Eucken-Addenhausen as mayor of Jena. He held this office until August 31, 1889. Then he moved to Koberwitz . Around 1902 he became director of the Herkules brewery in Kassel , in 1909 managing director of Hergenrather Tonwerk GmbH in Hergenrath , then a manufacturer in Aachen and from 1923 to 1926 a member of the Reichsausgleichsamt in Düsseldorf . He died in Bad Sooden in 1945.

He was a member of the Association for Thuringian History and Antiquity .
