Georg Zivier

Georg Zivier (born February 13, 1897 in Breslau , † March 19, 1974 in Berlin ) was a German writer , theater critic and journalist .

Life

Zivier was the son of the historian and writer Ezekiel Zivier . After studying in Greifswald and Berlin, he worked as a writer and journalist. In 1937 Georg Zivier was excluded from the Reichsschrifttumskammer due to his Jewish origins and was later committed to forced labor. Nevertheless, he continued to write under the pseudonym "Hans Gregor" for both the Vossische Zeitung and the Berliner Tageblatt .

In 1946 Arno Scholz hired him as head of the cultural policy department for the Berlin Telegraf . Until 1955 he also worked as a theater critic for Die Neue Zeitung . In addition to his journalistic work, he wrote short stories and radio plays. In 1963 he received the Brothers Grimm Prize of the State of Berlin for his play “Perlicke, perlacke” .
