Georg von Mascow

Georg von Mascow (born April 25, 1584 , † August 23, 1638 in Greifswald ) was a German professor of theology.

Life

Georg was the son of the ducal chamber councilor Nikolaus von Mascow (1532-1609) and Magdalena Apenberg. After the Greifswald city school , he attended the Stralsund high school . In 1603 he continued his studies at the University of Greifswald . In 1606 he traveled to Tübingen , where he obtained his licentiate degree the following year and in 1608 a doctorate in theology.

Mascow went on an educational trip to southern Germany and returned to Pomerania in the winter of 1608 . In the spring of 1609, the Duke appointed him to Greifswald as associate professor of theology. At the same time he was court preacher and from 1634 to 1638 pastor in Wolgast .

In 1614, Mascow married Elisabeth Corswant. From this marriage, the two later professors from Greifswald, Nikolaus and Petrus von Mascow, emerged.
