Peter of Mascow

Petrus von Mascow (born February 24, 1634 in Greifswald ; † November 18, 1719 ibid) was a German professor of law.

Peter von Mascow was the son of the Greifswald professor Georg von Mascow and Elisabeth Corswant . After private tuition at home, he came to the Szczecin Pedagogy in 1651 , where he a. a. was taught by Johannes Micraelius and Jakob Fabricius . In 1653 he studied philosophy and law in Rostock . In Greifswald he continued his studies with Joachim Völschow , Johann Pommeresche and Petrus Stephani. From 1660 Mascow went on a four-year educational trip to Holland, Brabant and the Rhineland.

After returning, he received his doctorate in law in 1665 and was appointed associate professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Greifswald .

In 1666 Mascow married Maria Rhaw, the daughter of Professor Balthasar Rhaw .

In 1668 he was appointed full professor. Mascow became assessor of the Greifswald consistory in 1678 and took over its management in 1696. He was elected rector of the university four times.

His son was the later Greifswald professor Georg Balthasar von Mascow (* 1666 or 1668; † 1731).
